Based in Pretoria, South Africa.

David was born in Vryheid in Northern Natal in 1970. As a youngster he loved being outdoors and in the bushveld and enjoyed creative things like drawing. Over time his love of nature and art evolved into a profession... painting.

David spends as much time as possible travelling around southern hemisphere game parks to photograph subject matter. Most of his paintings are created from his own original photos, a cycle of creating that he finds most satisfying. David has found that to get a good photograph of a bird or animals involves extensive observation and this invariably leads to a better understanding of the subject and a better painting.

David's work has been sold at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town since 1996 and is available at the "Guineafowl Gallery" in the Red Shed. David has also had several exhibitions at Kirstenbosch National Gardens over the years and currently exhibits there 2 to 3 times a year. David's home studio is also open for anyone who is interested - but please call first.
